We make receiving your new firearm easy and straightforward. Whether you are a frequent shooter or visiting us for the first time, Capitol Range handles your Federal Firearms License (FFL) transfers smoothly and safely.
Simple, Flat-Rate Pricing
We believe in keeping things simple. We charge a flat fee of $25 per firearm transfer.
This single price applies to both members and non-members. Your $25 fee fully covers the processing of your ATF Form 4473 and includes your required background check. You will never see hidden fees or complicated pricing tiers when you transfer a standard firearm through us.
Follow these four simple steps to get your firearm transferred to Capitol Range:
- Notify the Seller: Provide the seller or transferring FFL with our contact information. Ask them to email a copy of their Federal Firearms License to us, along with your name, phone number, email address, and the firearm’s make, model, and serial number.
- Allow for Processing: Once your shipment arrives at our facility, please allow 24 to 48 hours for our team to properly log the firearm into our system.
- Wait for Our Message: We will contact you directly by phone or email the moment your firearm is ready for pickup. Please do not come to the range to pick up your firearm until you hear from us.
- Pick Up Your Firearm: Come to Capitol Range to fill out your Form 4473. Bring a valid, state-issued photo ID. The address on your ID must match your current physical address. If you hold a valid Concealed Carry Permit, please bring that as well.

General Eligibility Requirements
To legally receive a firearm, you must meet all state and federal requirements. When you fill out your Form 4473, you must be able to confirm that:
- You are a United States citizen or a lawful resident.
- You are at least 21 years old to receive a handgun, or at least 18 years old to receive a long gun.
- You are the actual buyer of the firearm, transferring it for your own personal use.
- You have never been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
- You are not a fugitive from justice.
- You are not an unlawful user of, or addicted to, any controlled substances.
- You are not subject to any active court orders restraining you from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child.
Important Facility Policies
We want to ensure every transfer goes smoothly, but we do have a few policies in place for special circumstances.
Background Check Denials
We cannot transfer a firearm to you without an approved background check. If your background check is denied, we will only return the firearm to the original shipping dealer. You will be responsible for the $25 transfer fee, plus any return shipping charges. We will provide you with information on how to appeal a denied background check if you believe an error occurred.
Storage Fees
Please pick up your firearm within 30 days of the date we contact you. If you leave your firearm with us for more than 30 days, we will apply a storage fee of $45 per month, per firearm.
Abandoned Firearms
We consider any firearm left at our facility for 90 calendar days to be abandoned, unless we agree to other written arrangements ahead of time. It is your responsibility to collect your items, even if your phone number changes or your voicemail is full. We will sell abandoned firearms to cover the unpaid transfer and storage fees.
