Handgun 101 is the perfect starting point for anyone new to firearms or looking to build a strong foundation in handgun safety and operation. Hosted at Capitol Range & Firearms, this introductory course is designed to create a comfortable, supportive learning environment where first-time shooters can learn at their own pace.
During this 3 to 3.5-hour class, experienced instructors walk you through the fundamentals of handgun safety, proper handling, and basic shooting techniques. You’ll learn how both revolvers and semi-automatic handguns function, how to safely load and unload a firearm, and how to properly clean and maintain your handgun.
The course is split between classroom instruction and live-fire range time, giving you hands-on experience in a safe, controlled setting. On the range, you’ll practice foundational marksmanship skills and live-fire drills at distances up to 7 yards—helping you build confidence with every shot.
